Problem(Abstract)

Correct place to add a call to DeploymentLicenseRequired declaration when deploying a JSF Web application in JViews Charts 8.7 or 8.8

Symptom

Exception "ilog.views.util.IlvFeatureUseNotAcknowledgedException" on the server side, and nothing gets displayed on the client side while deploying a JSF Web Application

Cause

With 8.7 or 8.8, in order to deploy an application that embeds Rogue Wave JViews Charts, you need to add a declaration to confirm that you own a deployment license.

Environment

Thin client

Diagnosing the problem

IlvFeatureUseNotAcknowledgedException is thrown

Resolving the problem

The way to perform this declaration is to use a listener class inside the web.xml file where you are doing the JViews Servlet configuration.

<listener>
  <listener-class>
    ilog.views.util.servlet.DeploymentLicenseRequired_for_IBM_ILOG_JViews_Charts_Deployment
  </listener-class>
</listener>

Further information can be found in the DeploymentLicenseRequired_for_IBM_ILOG_JViews_Charts_Deployment class java documentation.

Note: Adding the following line in the java code side before a call to any other JViews methods will also solve the problem.

IlvProductUtil.DeploymentLicenseRequired(IlvProductUtil.IBM_ILOG_JViews_Charts_Deployment);
