Question
How can I use Pack200 on the signed JViews JAR files?
Answer
Since JViews 8.6 patch 9, it is not immediately possible to use Java's Pack200 utility to compress JAR archives. The reason for this is because the JViews JAR files are now signed. This is to help users trust JViews libraries as they are loaded through the Web.
If you intend to use Pack200, you can proceed in three steps:
- Unsign the JViews JAR files.
- Run the Pack200 utility.
- Optionally, re-sign the JAR files with your own key.
