Is it safe to conclude that the more vertices a polygon has the more accurately it will re-project?
The number of points in a polygon only changes the polygon's definition, not the accuracy of the re-projection. The polygon's definition has an influence on the time needed to re-project the whole map as well as on the area occupied by the split polygons when the Date Line Wrapping feature is turned on.
